Summer Intensive Program

The Summer Intensive is meant to prepare students for their future professional tracks. SIP is an alternative to the In-person shadowing program. The program aids students in professional development as they think about their next steps in life and how to prepare. The program includes workshops, panels, and networking events.

By the end of the intensive, students will:

-Develop a strong answer for your own mission in medicine
-Reflect on experiences based on the Core Competencies for Incoming Medical Students
-Work with advisors to set concrete goals for the coming year
-Gain practice with networking effectively and building mentoring relationships

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a Harvard Medical School Medscience Simulation. Students will experience the real-life excitement of giving Emergency room care in our simulation lab. While working through these “emergency cases”, students apply biology-based classroom learning to real-life and culturally responsive medical cases affecting their community such as diabetes, heart disease, substance abuse, and trauma.
